This renovation project required the incorporation of a freestanding studio into the main residence and to be repurposed as a master bedroom with ensuite, plus the construction of an additional bedroom.

The existing rear deck was modified and reclaimed timber from the deck was used as eave lining in the studio transformation.

A luxurious internal courtyard garden was created as part of the renovation and gave the master suite and connecting hallway a resort-style feel.

The addition of a pergola to the back deck enhanced the Asian-themed resort feel. This effect was complemented through the use of quality timber doors and windows, as well as solid timber flooring. The introduction of features such as LED lighting helped to bring this 1960s residence into line with modern expectations and finishes.

While a relatively small project the demand for expertise and attention to detail was very high. A number of challenging construction aspects had to be overcome, namely marrying of the studio with the main building. Attention to detail with roofing and external walls was required to ensure both visual and structural needs could be achieved successfully.

Furthermore, renovations to the existing residence drove the need for a consistent level of finishing throughout the project. This approach delivered a high quality family home, while giving the effect of a new build at a much more affordable pricepoint.
